The United Methodist Large-Church Initiative is designed for churches with 1,000 members or more and for churches with an average attendance of 350 or more in worship.
The initiative is designed to provide:
- Opportunities for pastors and congregational leaders to exchange ideas;
- Opportunities for pastors, staff, and congregational leaders to learn new leadership skills;
- Opportunities for leaders to develop new ideas through discussion, study, and networking;
- Opportunities for leaders to work together to accomplish common goals.
Once a year, pastors of large-membership churches from across the country gather for a large-membership church conference, which is sponsored jointly by the Large-Church Initiative Committee and the General Board of Discipleship. The conference is designed to provide an arena for networking, for sharing ideas, and for giving and receiving encouragement and support for ministry.
