The story of First United Methodist Church Richardson began in "borrowed space" 125 years ago. With 15 charter members and a pastor the foundation was started for a church that now serves over 6,000 members. It is a church that has a history of vision and service. The church has stood in 4 different locations and buildings. "The history of this church," says Dr. Oliphint, senior pastor, "reflects the faith, optimism and determination of its congregation over the years and serves as an important reminder that to endure, a church must be much more than just a building."

In March of 2006 the congregation boldly and enthusiastically wrote another chapter in its history by moving a vibrant congregation to the present 24 acres. The focus of this transition was always on considering this beautiful campus to be a mission station. . . .that would make it possible for us to share the love of Christ with more people. The ministries of this church are centered around the fact that the grace of God is available to everyone. To the over 300,000 people that travel by this Central Expressway location every day we offer inspiring worship, study opportunities to grow in faith, dynamic children's and youth ministries, outstanding music program, a community-oriented senior adult ministry, and numerous ways to put faith into action by serving those in need.
